AR15 Charging Handle mod to T15.
So you want to install a real steel AR charging handle? Three ways you can have it. Get your Dremel Out or your wallet.
Method 1: Aluminum Brazing
T15 Stock Charging Handle (Top) vs AR15 Charging Handle.
Cut the AR charging handle to same length of the T15 charging handle. Cut the T15 charging handle. Grind until it fits on top of the AR charging handle.
I used the Aluminum Brazing method to hold the top in place. If you do it right, the brazing method has a 40,000psi shear strength so it should hold. I also put roll pins for a fail safe mod.
Make sure the aftermarket charging handle is made of aluminum in order for Aluminum brazing to work. A little JB weld to fill the crack and imperfections and paint, this is how it looks like.

I used Aluminum Brazing Rods called HST2000 to attached the pieces together.

Method 2: Welding
So you know or you know someone that can weld aluminum together? Lucky you! Using a dremel, cut the Charging 1.5 inch from the tip of the stem (same as above). You need to shorten the AR15 charging handle. IMPORTANT: Don't throw the tip away, you'll need it later.
Remove the section in red. Weld together the tip and the main part of the charging handle. The tip is important because it has the guide that portrudes on the side giving the charging a smoother pull during the charging process.
Welding it together and building up the hump..
After painting and filing and finishing work. Here is how mine looks like. It's lighter, faster and provide way smoother pull than the stock charging handle.

I chose this design because its lighter and provides less overall friction because it has to points of contact and with less metal on metal contact against the bolt sleeve, provides a really smooth pull.
